We all know I’m a sucker for drugstore products. There are so many amazing affordable makeup products that I use daily but I feel like I haven’t highlighted them as much as I should.
That’s why I’m starting this Beauty On A Budget mini-series to shine some light on my favorite drugstore products as much as they deserve.
Today, I’m kicking the series off with base products. There are plenty of face products at the drugstore and they can be hit or miss so I want to highlight the best of the best so you know what to look for when you’re looking for an affordable base product.
Check these products out!
L’OREAL pARIS tRUE mATCH lUMI gLOTION
I’ve talked about this product a lot on the blog but I couldn’t do this post without mentioning it. This is a glowy base that you can use many different ways but my favorite way to use it is under my foundation. It gives a healthy glow to the skin and the shimmer doesn’t accentuate the pores so it’s perfect as a primer. Alternatively, I also like mixing it into my foundation for a more subtle glow.
NYX Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil
The first all-over that I wanna highlight is this tinted moisturizer-like product from NYX. It’s a very light coverage product that gives your skin an even look and makes it look healthy. It has hydrating and calming properties so it’s amazing for daily wear if you’re not looking for coverage. The shade range for this product isn’t the best but because of the nature of the product, a lot of skin tones can get away with using the same shade.
Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation Stick
If you’re looking for something with more coverage, this foundation stick is for you. Unlike other stick foundations this one isn’t dry and it doesn’t look heavy or cakey. It makes your skin look like skin. This is buildable but, for the most part, I’d say it’s medium coverage. The shade range is pretty good and the best part is, of course, the really affordable price.
Maybelline Superstay Full Coverage Foundation
If you’re a full coverage queen this foundation is exactly what you need. It’s the fullest coverage foundation available at the drugstore and also one of the longest-lasting I’ve tried, period. This really does cover everything you ever wish to be covered and more. I’d recommend it more to people with normal/oily skin because it is more of a matte finish. And just like the Wet N Wild one, the shade range is pretty inclusive.
Elf Hydrating Camo Concealer
One of the newer concealers at the drugstore and, I’ve gotta say, one of the best I’ve tried. This concealer gives you medium/buildable coverage and it’s really comfortable under the eyes. Because of its hydrating formula it looks very lightweight under the eyes which diminishes creasing. Even though it’s hydrating, it’s not dewy so oilier skin types can enjoy it as well. The only thing I don’t love about this concealer is the shitty shade range. They don’t have many shades and the colors they do carry, have weird undertones. Other than that, it’s fantastic.
NYX HD Concealer
This is a medium/full coverage concealer that makes your under eyes look flawless in a natural way. The formula isn’t heavy at all and it works amazingly on other areas of the face as well. It’s also long-lasting which helps with the creasing aspect a lot. This is the concealer I use on my clients and it works on all skin types. I’ve received great feedback on the wear and comfortability (is that a word?) so I’d say NYX hit it out of the park with this one. On top of that, the shade range is very inclusive which is always important.
Rimmel Stay Matte Translucent Powder
This is one of my favorite powders I’ve ever used. The product lasts forever and it’s insanely affordable too! If you need something that’s gonna set your makeup and lock it in place, this is it. If you have a drier skin type you probably aren’t setting your makeup anyway but I must say that this works best for oilier skin types. Despite being matte, it doesn’t look heavy on the face and despite it being translucent, it doesn’t make you look ashy or suffer from flashback. This is a classic beauty guru product for a reason.
Honest Beauty Invisible Blurring Loose Powder
This is a newer product but it’s a really amazing powder. Again, if you’re oilier you’ll benefit the most from this because it focuses on oil control. I’d also recommend this to anyone who has larger pores and wants a little blurring action. Honest is considered a ‘clean beauty’ brand so If you’re into clean beauty and are having a hard time finding affordable clean products check this, and other Honest products, out.
And that concludes my favorite drugstore/affordable base products! What are your favorite affordable face products?
