Winter Beauty Essentials

Winter Beauty Staples | The Best Products To Solve Your Winter Skin Problems

I find winter to be the season when my skin changes the most. I have combo/oily skin and I find that during winter I get these nasty dry patches on different areas of my face. My skin also tends to get duller and less dewy so I have to pull all the stops to bring life back into it.

Today, I wanted to share my winter beauty essentials for when my face is just not having it.

I’m not including a lot of skin care because everyone and their mothers have already talked about that. Instead, I’m gonna share a few makeup products that bring the glow back to my face.

The Products

Weleda Skin Food | $19

Moisturizer is a must, especially this time of year. I know this is a very popular product but it works like a dream! It’s really thick but it absorbs quite quickly and it doesn’t leave an oily residue.

Weleda Skin Food

I prefer to use it at night to let it absorb completely but if you have uber dry skin, you can pull it off as a daily moisturizer. It claims to work on all skin types and I’m gonna have to agree. It’s not irritating and it makes your face look great.

Glossier Generation G Lipsticks | $18

Ahh, my love afair with Glossier continues. They recently reformulated their lippies and they’re just what you’re looking for this holiday season.

Glossier Generation G Lipstick

During winter my lips get extra flakey and disgusting but I still wanna be able to wear colorful lipsticks. I love the Gen G formula because it looks matte but it doesn’t feel like death on my lips and it doesn’t accentuate the flakey bits.

The lipstick is very low maintenance so reapplying is a piece of cake. That being said, it’s more of a ‘blotted lip’ type of product so it won’t be extremely pigmented.

First Aid Beauty Hello Fab Bendy Avocado Concealer | $22

I was blessed with shitty under eyes that always dry out during the colder months. And that always makes my concealer look cake-y and ew. But I was also blessed with extreme dark circles so I can’t forgo concealer all-together.

First Aid Beauty Bendi Avocado Concealer

This freaking concealer is my savior! It’s a very lightweight formula so it doesn’t sit on my skin and doesn’t accentuate the dryness. It has hydrating properties, which is fantastic for winter but I do have to set it if I want it to last all day. It’s also an amazing formula to wear all over the face.

Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Color in In The Nude | $30

I’ve always associated the holidays with blush for some strange reason. Perhaps it’s the fact that my skin tends to look dull in the winter and blush helps bring color back to my face.

Nudestix Nudies All Over Skin Color In The Nude

Regardless of the reason, this Nudestix blush is a total winter staple. Since it’s a cream product, it melts into the skin and it brings back a bit of dew to the face. This particular formula doesn’t need to be set, which is fantastic because setting it would be counteractive.

L’Oreal True Match Lumi Glotion & Makeup Highlighter | $15

We’ve already established that during winter the glow on our skin disappears, so we need something to bring it back. That something is the L’Oreal Glotion.

L'Oreal True Match Lumi Glotion & Makeup Highlighter

If you’re looking for a subtle glow, you can mix this in with your face products or moisturizer. And if you’re looking for a more intense glow, you can wear it on it’s own. That’s what I tend to do.

This isn’t a metallic product so it will always look natural, no matter what. But the shimmer will blur your pores and that dry flakey skin so that you can have the greatest fake-natural glow there is.

Rituel De Fille Ash and Ember Eye Soot | $38

Just like my under eyes, my lids tend to dry out during winter. How weird is that? Turns out, it’s not weird at all.

Rituel De Fille Ash and Ember Eye Soot

My solution to this problem is cream eyeshadows. I like using creams because they’re easy to apply and they don’t crease when my lids are dry. These Ash and Ember Eye Soots aren’t the creamiest of creams but they work wonderfully.

Since they’re not super creamy I don’t worry about creasing but since they are a cream they conceal the dryness on my lids. They’re also very long lasting and buildable.

And that’s about it for my winter beauty staples. What are yours?

I’d also love to know what other blog posts you’d wanna see from me! Let me know in the comments 🙂

Thank you so much for reading!

Lots of love,

Isa ❤

I haven’t tried anything from Glossier yet. I’m still trying to decide where to start. I love that First Aid concealer, it’s so soft and light. But with great coverage! That cream eyeshadow looks wonderful! I like the Tom Ford creams a lot too!

I recommend you try their boy brow and their gen g lipsticks. They’re the best! I haven’t tried Tom Ford creams cause they’re so expensive lol but I really want to!
