Mascara Rundown

Mascara is and will always be my #1 makeup product. It’s the first product I ever experimented with and I find that it’s the product that makes the biggest difference on your face.

I’ve tried millions of mascaras throughout the years and favorites come and go. Brands are always coming up with new concepts and new mascara formulas and that excites me a lot! So today I decided to give you a rundown of my current favorite mascaras.

My Lash Type

Before I get into the actual mascaras I wanna talk about my lash type. (Is that even a term?) I was blessed with long and abundant lashes. They’re semi-curled and they’re pretty dark. So what I look for in a mascara is completely different that what someone with short blonde lashes is looking for. Just keep that in mind.

What I Look For In Mascaras

Since I’m pretty content with my lashes, most mascara formulas will work for me. But there are obviously some that will work better than others.

I always look for a mascara that will curl my lashes and hold said curl throughout the whole day. I also look for a formula that’s not clumpy and that’s volumizing. But the most important thing I look for is definition. A mascara that will coat all of my lashes and that opens up my eyes.

Is that too much to ask?

The Mascaras

1. Glossier Lash Slick | $16

I don’t know if I’ve talked much about this mascara on here but it’s the perfect everyday mascara. It’s really natural so it won’t give you much volume. Instead it will define and lengthen your lashes to make them look mascara-less.

Best Mascara

The formula is buildable and it never gets clumpy, no matter how many layers you apply. This is also a fiber mascara and it’s the only one I own that doesn’t irritate the eyes.

2. Milk Makeup Kush Mascara | $24

This is the newest addition to my collection and I already love it. The formula is very lightweight and it doesn’t leave the lashes feeling crunchy. It gives decent volume that you can build up for a more dramatic effect.

Best Mascara

I also love the fact that this has some extra benefits for your lashes so you’re not just applying mascara. Your nourishing your lashes.

3. Benefit Bad Gal Bang | $25

I had a bit of a love-hate relationship with this when I first got it but I’ve grown to love it. This mascara is perfect for a more dramatic look. It’s extremely lengthening and it adds a ton of volume. It almost makes my lashes look fake!

Best Mascara

It’s buildable but it can get a bit too clumpy if you over-apply it so be careful. Other than that, it’s wonderful.

4. Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara | $10

The only drugstore mascara for today! Don’t get me wrong, the drugstore has incredible formulas but lately I’ve been loving some high-end ones.

Best Mascaras

This can either be a natural mascara or you can build it up for a more intense look. I find that it’s very volumizing but it’s not as lengthening as others that I’ve tried. Just like the Kush Mascara, this is a very flexible formula so my lashes never feel crunchy when I apply it. It also smells really good, which is rare when it comes to mascara.

These are all different products with different formulas and that’s why I love them so much! They all cater to my needs in different ways.

What are your current favorite mascaras? I’d love to know 🙂

Thank you so much for reading!

Lots of love,

Isa ❤

I’ve been obsessed with the kush mascara, and actually just repurchased one at the Sephora VIB Sale! I’ve never tried the total temptation or the bad girl bang. I’m really curious about the bad girl bang, because I love dramatic eyelashes, and I think it will work well for me, because i have a similar lash type to you! Great post xxx

I haven’t used the kush mascara for long but I agree, it’s amazing! You should totally try the bad gal bang!! If you’re not sure, I recommend you get the mini size and try it out to see if it works for you 😁
