The Matte Edit

Glowy makeup has been in for what feels like forever. And don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love it. But with so many glowy products out there, I feel like we’ve forgotten about all the wonderful matte products that exist. And I’m not just talking about liquid lipstick.

If you ever feel like doing a full-on matte makeup look, here are some tips & product you can use to achieve it!

The key to a matte look is finding the right products. That means finding products that look matte but that don’t suck the life out of your face. A good skin care regimen prior to doing your makeup also helps a lot.

I like to start my skin off with a primer that will fill in my pores and fine lines. Matte foundations tend to sink in to those areas of the face so I like to prevent that with a blurring primer. For foundation I like to use a ‘semi-matte’ formula so that my skin can still breathe. I always add a bit of contour/bronzer to incorporate dimension into the look and I also do a soft matte blush to brighten my complexion.

All-matte eye looks are some of my favorite! There’s just something so sultry and mysterious about them; don’t you think? The look always varies depending on my mood, but I can guarantee you 99.9% of the time it will be a warm toned look. Matte liner is also a crucial part of an all-matte eye look. I think that it completes it.

For the lips there are so many great ways to go matte. Sometimes I go with the classic matte bullet lipstick. Sometimes I like something more intense like a liquid lipstick. The color is always changing, but matte lips are definitely my favorite part of an all-matte look
