Highlighting is life. We can all agree on that. In these past couple of years highlighting has taken the makeup world by storm. It has become one of the most essential parts of doing our makeup. We all want our highlight game to be strong, and most of us have already achieved that. But what if we could get it to be stronger? What if we could step our highlight game up?
What if?
I have some great news! It is possible to make our highlight game stronger. And the best part is, that it’s super simple to do so. It only takes a few extra steps and the results are incredible.
I’ve been testing these techniques for a while now and I can assure you, they work wonders. They will totally make your highlighter a hundred times better than it was before. But enough blabbering, let’s get on to what these techniques actually are.
The first thing you’ll want to do is to apply your highlight before setting your face. It seems a bit ridiculous and out of order but I promise you it works. So after you apply your foundation make sure to let it sink into your skin before continuing. Now, instead of setting your face with powder, you’ll grab your highlight and apply it -in patting motions- wherever you desire. Since the skin is still a bit tacky from the foundation, the highlighter will melt into your skin and it will look a lot more natural -no matter how much you put on. If you want to amp it up even more make sure to use a liquid highlight before applying your foundation.

When you are done with setting your face and contouring and all of the good stuff it’s time to put on even more highlighter. I’ve noticed a lot of people that wet their brush before dipping it into the highlight, to get a more intense look. This technique follows the same principle but it’s a bit different. What you’re gonna do is grab your setting spray or just some water in a spray bottle; and you’re gonna spray your face. Make sure you hit the high points of your face. This is known to help powders melt into the skin but also helps your highlight. After you’ve sprayed it on, take your highlighter and apply it where you normally would. Remember to dab your highlight on as opposed to swiping. Since your skin is wet your highlighter will go on a lot more intense and it will be noticeable from a mile away. Who doesn’t want that?
It’s that simple! Make sure you guys let me know if you try these techniques and what your thoughts on them are. I hope you guys enjoyed and learned something new in this post. Thanks so much for reading!
See you next time,
Isa ❤
