I’m a sucker for cute packaging on makeup and that’s one of the reasons why I love The Balm. I decided to do a brand review on this brand specifically because I’ve used their products for quite a while now and I feel like I have enough information on how the products work, to form an opinion. As a whole I feel like this is an amazing brand with a lot of great products and variety to choose from. I bought my stuff from Hautelook and I do have to say the products weren’t well packaged and one of them was broken. Other than that everything was perfect and I got to save some money on high quality makeup! I also created a look using the products and that’ll be at the end of the post, just in case you’re interested.
Sexy Mama anti-shine translucent powder
I use this powder every day and it’s very well loved, as you can see in the picture. This powder keeps my my face matte but not dull, it doesn’t cake up or look heavy on my skin. This is not completely translucent though, so if you have a darker complexion it might leave a white cast or it can maybe look ashy. It’s also very small and the packaging is sturdy so it’s perfect for travel, plus the design on it is super cute.
Balms Away eye makeup breakup
I bought this product because the idea of it intrigued me. It’s kind of like a balm for your face. This feels great on the skin, it’s very moisturizing, gentle, and it has some great ingredients that can benefit your skin. I do find that I have to massage .my eyes pretty well to take of everything and sometimes, when I wear very heavy makeup, I find that I have to go in a second time because one time wasn’t enough. The product is good but it’s nothing special.
Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter
This is a popular product from The Balm and it’s one of the best in-your-face highlighters out there. Mine came broken unfortunately and I tried to repress it but I failed miserably. I don’t reach for it a lot because it crumbles and it makes a mess every time I use it, but sometimes I just can’t resist. This thing is amazing for whenever I want people from outer space to check out my highlighter, yes it’s that bright. I also love the versatility of it. You can use it as a highlight or as an eyeshadow, since it’s a very easy color. If you want to level up your highlight game, you need to get this.
Nude’tude eyeshadow palette
I was really excited when I got this palette because everyone raves about it, which is partly why I got it. But the more that I use it the more I realize that I don’t need it. The eyeshadows are gorgeous and pigmented but the color arrangement bothers me. There aren’t enough light matte shades and most of the shimmery shades are super powdery. I have made the palette work but I have so many nude palettes that this one just gets forgotten.
Balm Jovi Rockstar Palette
I love everything about this palette. The name, the concept, the colors, and the versatility. It comes with 12 eyeshadows, a highlight, a blush, and lip products. I love the assortment of the colors as well. We have some neutrals some pops of color and an entire row of matte eyeshadows. If I could only get one thing from the brand it would definitely be this one.
Meet Matt(e) matte eyeshadow palette
This is a fun palette to have if you love matte shadows, or if you wear them often. It has some fun colors to play with but there are also some basic neutrals. There are also warm tones and some cool tones included in it. This is a wonderful palette and the shadows work very well but I just don’t reach for it and I don’t know why. I’m gonna have to put it somewhere visible so that I can start using it more.
I created this eye look mostly with the Nude’tude palette. I wanted something a little bit smokey but still neutral. I used Matt Smith from the Meet Matt(e) palette as a transition and blending shade. For my lid I combined Stubborn and Stand-offish. I used Sultry and Sexy in my crease and to deepen everything I used Sleek in the outer corner. I used Serious to lightly line my lids and to deepen the outer v just a little bit more. I used the Mary-Lou Manizer as my inner corner highlight.
For the cheeks I used the Pop!Pop! blush aka Frat Boy blush, from the Rockstar palette and I combined the Mary-Lou Manizer and the Disco Disco highlighter from the same palette, to highlight my cheekbones, nose, and cupids bow. Lastly for my lips I used the Vanilly lip/cheek tint from the Rockstar palette as well.
I hope you enjoyed this review and the look I created as well.
See you next post!
